Keeping Your Practice Going

Even when your downtime is busy!

Summer plans and school-free days for the kids could mean that your spirituality has been side lined lately. If you're feeling a bit removed from your regular metaphysical practices, here are some ideas to get back in the swing of things!

Flea markets, yard sales, craft fairs, and even souvenir shops are loaded with items that are useful in witchcraft and pagan practices!

  • Fabric and table cloths can be turned into altar cloth, poppets, and gris gris bags.

  • Small bowls & dishes can be used for offerings and as candle holders and incense burners.

  • Seasonal décor is great to freshen up sabbat and deity altars.

  • Trinket dishes, boxes, jars and bottles have tons of uses: store herbs, candles, oils, non-perishable offerings, and crystals.

  • Furniture like a small end table can become an altar. Cupboards can keep your witchy stuff stored and organized. A second-hand dresser can serve as an altar with storage for ritual items in the drawers.

If you have a summer reading list or maybe you're feeling like you've been neglecting your grimoire, look into books about oils and herbs, read about new spell methods, research deities or record your crystal collection. Bring your research material to the beach, park, or pool to sneak in magickal time during family time.

Camping trips and hiking are perfect for foraging. While traveling, keep your eyes open for useful spell elements or special deity offerings in nature you may not be able to find at home! Consider things like: ocean, lake and river water, sand, stones, pebbles or dirt, wild herbs, flowers, leaves and berries and found organic items like feathers, animal bones, and snake skin.

Any of these ideas can be incorporated into your plans no matter the season. Just think out of the box and keep your eyes open!
