Hodr Norse god ritual offering candle
This frankincense & myrrh-scented candle is crafted specifically for the Norse god of winter and darkness, Hodr. It's adorned with selenite representing the night and the moon as well as herbs and crystals of winter. The 8-oz. tin measures 3" x 2".
Hodr is blind - thus, the god of darkness. Loki took advantage of Hodr's trust and lack of sight by using him to kill Baldur. Handing Hodr an arrow coated in a potion made with mistletoe - the only substance in the world that could hurt Baldur - Loki tricked Hodr into participating in a game. The gods were having fun throwing dangerous objects at Baldur knowing none of it would hurt him. However, Loki knew the secret of the mistletoe. He helped Hodr aim and shoot the poisoned arrow, killing Baldur.
Hodr is patron of the blind, physically and metaphorically. If you're in a dark place mentally or emotionally, he can help you to survive while you work your way out. Also petition Hodr for help and support when your trust has been betrayed.
Bringing offerings to deities is a time-honored tradition. With 30+ hours of burn time, you will be able to honor Hodr an hour a day, every day for a month, if you so choose!
*Kindly note that due to the unique nature of hand-made goods and the availability of materials, adornments, ingredients and colors may vary from those shown. But know that each candle will be equally beautiful and perfectly appropriate for each entity.
