Thanatos Greek god offering candle
This offering candle is created to honor the Greek god of death, Thanatos . It is scented with night jasmine - as jasmine is associated with death - and adorned with the perfect offerings for Thanatos: poppy seeds, cypress leaves, black obsidian and more. The candle comes in a 3" x 2", 8-oz. tin.*
Thanatos is the son of Nyx (goddess of night) and brother to Hypnos (god of sleep). He is often pictured in human form with a sword or as a winged serpent. Thanatos brings peaceful and painless death to those whose time on earth has passed. As a psychopomp, he also leads the dead to the underworld. Thanatos may be petitioned to bless terminally ill loved-ones with a peaceful passing. He may also help with communicating to the recently departed.
Bringing offerings to deities is a time-honored tradition. With 30+ hours of burn time, you will be able to honor Thanatos an hour a day, every day for a month, if you so choose!
*Kindly note that due to the unique nature of hand-made goods and the availability of materials, adornments, ingredients and colors may vary from those shown. But know that each candle will be equally beautiful and perfectly appropriate for each entity.
